List: 2-disc OOP titles that are now 1-disc

Here is a list (short) of movies that at one point had 2-DVD sets but are now released as a single disc version. Movies that currently have two versions (i.e. both a single and double disc) are excluded. If the 2 Disc set goes OOP, then I will add it to the list. Releases that were only 2-DVD's that are OOP (e.g. Snow White) are intentionally left off.

If you do not see a title, don't freak out, leave a message and I'll add it.

The Abyss
Big Trouble in Little China
Fight Club
From Hell
Independence Day
Men In Black
Moulin Rouge
Patton
Planet of the Apes
Romper Stomper
Sound Of Music

I do not know if I should even list Army of Darkness -- there seems to be a million versions.

If you want one of these titles, check the exchange board, an online store, or a B&M. If those fail -try Ebay.

You can add "Final Fantasy" and "Bridge on the River Kwai" to the list. I'm pretty sure the 2 discs editions are OOP, though there are still a lot of copies floating around.

Both of these titles are in print. Also Lawrence of Arabia is still in print. Columbia released single disc editions of these discs, but they never discontinued the 2-disc special editions.

I believe the Bridge on the River Kwai and Lawrence of Arabia are both OOP, and have been for a while. These are both marked as "Limited Edition." I am also pretty sure that Final Fantasy was announced to be OOP, when the one-disc came out.

As far as I can tell (DVD lists, online stores, etc). Lawrence of Arabia is still made in both 2 and 1 DVD versions. The special "canvas" cover is OOP.

Also, "Bridge" is still available in both 1 and 2 sets as well. Funny thing is that I cant find the single set anywhere (UPC: 043396052789).

Final Fantasy is also listed as still being produced as 1 and 2 disc sets.

Has anyone seen the 2-disc non-canvas cover of Lawrence of Arabia? I can't say I much like the canvas cover.

Oh, and BOTRK 2-disc is out of print, although readily available.

Do you have a source for this info? I don't believe Columbia is still making it with the cardboard case, but it is still in-print. Columbia never discontinued the 2-disc SE's and replaced them with a single disc version. Unlike Fox, they have kept both versions in-print.

The two-disc version of The Stunt Man is a numbered LE, isn't it?

Nope, Cast Away 2Disc is now OOP - although readily available from Overstock.com (for a really good price, too).

Also CE3K (Close Encounters) is only available as a 1-disc bare-bones. It's a shame too, since the documentary is so good. To further confuse things, they call the 1 discer "The Collector's Edition", referring to the cut of the film, not the quality of the DVD.
