I am not believing my eyes....(spielberg related)

Duel Collector's Edition

I can't believe this movie is coming out and it's one of my favorite Spielberg flicks. I'm definitely buying this on the day it's released.

Just last Thursday, a co-worker was mentioning that she saw this on TV and how much she enjoyed it. She had no idea that Spielberg directed it.

I remember seeing it when first aired as a Movie of the Week (on ABC, I believe). It was pretty cool back then and I think it holds up fairly well.

It's obviously one of Spielberg's underrated movies.

You hardly ever see people talking about his earlier flicks like "The Last Gun", "Battle Squad", "Firelight", "Amblin", and "The Sugarland Express".

Mostly people talk about his popular movies like "E.T', "Minority Report", "Indiana Jones", "A.I", "Close Encounters", "Jaws", etc.

I've only seen this on TV. Anyone know if any of it has been cut for TV, or will watching the DVD be a whole new movie? Is it supposed to be full frame (as stated in the Amazon listing)?
With a list price of $19.99, I will definitely have to get this.

[edit]
nevermind, I now see that it was originally made for TV, so I assume the version I've seen is the complete cut. Hence, it's OAR is full frame.

Ummmm let's see Movie Man. Duel was ORIGINALLY part of the ABC Movie of the Week series, never theatrically released. So what do you think, lol? And, no it won't be 4:3 matted to a widescreen form. Your edit is correct<BG>.

That's because, with the exception of "The Sugarland Express" (which is pretty terrific), all those other movies you named are shorts that he made as a CHILD and have never been seen by anyone, except his relatives.

"Amblin" was the short film Spielberg made when he was 21 or so that led to jobs directing TV episodes, which led to Duel, which led to movies, etc.

One of the best ones he did was a "Night Gallery" episode with Joan Crawford. She played a blind woman who gets an operation that allows her to see for a few hours. But the BEST part was....
Spoiler:
when they removed the badages, there is a blackout in the city and, of course, this happens at night... so she spends her few hours of sight in darkness.... arrrrrrgh

Possibly the greatest made-for-television movie ever made (although, only slightly better than "Dark Night of the Scarecrow" )!!

Let's not forget the Columbo episode, "Murder by the Book." An excellent show, probably my favorite Columbo, it's somewhat different from what the series became over its run on network TV. I believe "Murder by the Book" was, in fact, the first Columbo show, broadcast in a 90-minute time slot.

I love this movie. Seen it years as an ABC Movie of the Week. Great news...

BTW...did anyone remeber seeing an episode of The Incredible Hulk that had footage added in from Duel? What a shame to see Speilbergs film in a trashy episode from the Hulk.

That's the old cover art from last year, before it was delayed.
