New T2 info...
Video Business posted that:
Artisan and Microsoft officials discussed the inclusion of the Windows Media 9 Series technology and stressed that the resolution's specifications--twice the standard NTSC resolution of analog TV--do not go far enough to be labeled "high definition."
What a joke, as I will sit tight with my current T2 edition until the real HD-DVD version surfaces.
Also, this "HD-like" presentation will be the theatrical cut only!
Just thought that I would pass this along.

Ouch.
This was one of the few things I think the DVD had going for it.
I never planned on buying it but I wonder how this will effect the sales of people who were upgrading. I'm happy with what I own now. Maybe the next new SE version will include a higher res version.

ANyone who buys this after buying the previous "Ultimate" Edition is a sucker, plain and simple. If people keep supporting this backstabbing to DVD and movie fans alike by repackaging an old movie everytime a sequel comes out it will never stop. One edition only, Please!

I never bought into the HD hype.
BUT, surely this new transfer with the film being restored will BLOW AWAY the *average* UE transfer. You guys can keep that artifact, edge enhancement edition.

The old edition had a commentary already, why do I need to hear another one that was thought up just for something new to say can be added to another regurgitated edition, and isnt this ultimate edition of the movie only be capable on the highest qualifying computer?

Exactly, the last director's commentary was pieces slapped together from interviews he had done, and had nothing to do with the movie at all.
Finally, he sat down and commented on the movie as he watched it. A real commentary this time, a better transfer, what else can you ask for?
And, it was $15.

Whatever, im sick of being taken to the bank everytime these asses want some more money, the completionist in me died with the few extra dollars in my pocket, you guys want to go ahead and support these scams, go right ahead, but trust me, if you do there'll be another"SUPER-SIZED edition" when T4 comes out with a Schwarzeneggar commentary that you'll "have" to get. Look, im not bagging on a special edition if its announced before the bare bones comes out, we've been forewarned, or a special edition for a movie that had a dry release a few years back, there's been some time in between, but when i buy an Ultimate Edition, thats the last time i want to buy it, why release it then if stuff was left out or was it planned to be released later on but kept from the public? You people can buy your 3 rd editions of American Pie SE for all i care.

Jeez, so much pent up hostilty. Just buy it or don't!
I admit the commentary is tempting, but I already have the UE which is good enough for me. I'd rather spend my $24.95 on something new.

Yeah, people make it feel like they're forcing you to buy these.
Since it's under $16 shipped from DDD, I kinda look at it like The Matrix Revisited, which cost me $12. New extras and a better commentary. I consider the movie the extra feature of this disc. If the transfer is only slightly better than the UE, then it's an extra extra.

Eh? I thought the new version would not include the theatrical cut.
will as be included but not in that format - and that's where all the confusion comes in.
One thing that I am certain of is when the dust settles on an actual HD-DVD format, this title will be among the first to find its way to the market. They will probably offer a seamless branching function to present the multiple cuts of the film as well. Until that day I'm holding onto my UE disc.

I have never bought because the UE was out before I started getting into collecting, and there was already rumor that another would be released near the T3 schedule. So this will be a first buy for me. I am looking forward to it.

Are people confusing this relabeling of "not HD" to mean they are not including the WM9 version?
Man, you guys love jumping to conclusions.
And if you are happy with your edge enhanced T2 UE, so be it. I'll happily buy the new version if the transfer is as good as they claim.

Here is a new article that may confuse things more:
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.j...toryID=2666375
It states:
"Both the high-def and standard DVDs contain additional features including 16 minutes of additional film, director James Cameron's commentary, and behind-the-scenes footage."
Don't know if I believe that though. Just passing along info ...

Sorry if I came out as hostile, I just see this as studios taking advantage of people's desires to have the "next best thing" without regards to those who purchased the "inferior" versions. If you want it, by all means buy it, im not judging anyone who does.
