That is a good one. I just started doing this today. So far I've pulled some great ones from In the Mood for Love. Wonderful cinematography in that movie. And i also got North by Northwest today so i'll probably capture the requisite cropduster shot.

I love this shot, not only because it's from my all-time favorite movie, The Breakfast Club, but also because it's a prime example of why widescreen photography is so good.

A couple from Ghostbusters. The first one proves why widescreen is soooo much better than pan 'n' scam. The second is a shot that I always loved (being from NYC). It's kinda weird though, seeing it after September 11.

Pictures deleted because I exceeded my bandwidth on BellSLOTH...

Not technically DVD, but one of the greatest, IMO.

Well, these two will never qualify as the "greatest," but they are pretty important to me. It's the first time my father appeared onscreen (well, visually apparent) in any major motion picture (Devil's Advocate). Sadly, in the pan 'n' scam version, he only appears once; in the widescreen version, he's seen three times.

Three that come to mind:

1) The scene at the beginning of Citizen Kane where they have some really cool backlighting for an arched passageway...then the light suddenly goes out (in time with the music abruptly stopping).

2) Also in Citizen Kane: the scene where Kane says "Rosebud."

3) Near the end of The Gift, any one of the scenes with Katie Holmes...you know what I'm talking about if you've seen it.

I worked out how to use my Power DVD. The secret's in General>Video settings, and you must dis-enable the Hardware Acceleration. Saving files : go to General>Advanced>Capture To File and nominate where you want .. I save them to the Desktop.

Okay, another favourite. Move over Trinity and her big weapon: there's a new girl in town ...

That is really cool!!! AND A perfect example of what people are missing in Pan & Scan.

C'mon people... Where's a grab from Fight Club? I can think of at least three perfect freeze-frames (I'd do it but I lack the proper equipment).

I have disabled the "hardware acceleration", but still don't see an "advanced" menu?

Inre PowerDVD and screen-grabs:
I got the software included with some video card I bought a long while ago (GeForce 3, maybe). I installed the program from the bundled CD and was able to do screen-grabs. I then downloaded a patch/point release from PowerDVD's website, installed it, and the ability to do screen-grabs was gone. So I uninstalled PowerDVD, went in and deleted all registry keys, rebooted, and then reinstalled just the bundled version of the program. Worked fine.

I don't know if this means the patch disabled screen captures or if all never versions are disabled or what, I just thought I would throw this out for people unable to do any screen-grabs. Hope it helps someone.

Well, I'm at work, and only have one DVD with me right now, so here's a couple of capture-worthy shots from "Kingpin":

They're both from the "Full Screen" side of the disc, which is open matte, so it often shows more of Miss Angel's... talent...

Sartana, Class316's still from Song Of The South has just made me laugh out loud ... sheer GENIUS

Song Of The South, Lord Knows What Chapter

All-time worst screen grab, or just unappreciated in its time? Seriously, I nearly p***** myself laughing . Class316 is truly a visionary
