It feels like time to get my 4:3 on.

Mr. Show

Clerks - The Animated Series

Fawlty Towers

Monty Python's Flying Circus

and of course....

And if DVD doesn't showcase the limitations of videotape (or the decompression software on my Powerbook - take your pick), I don't know what can.....

Damn, that is a serious display of combing artifacts there. I hope those discs don't look like that in full motion. Reminds me of those godawful New Yorker Films DVDs.

Rypro525,

Ref your comments about the Scarface transfer / freeze frames somewhere up the thread ...

Screen grabs 4 and 5 look poor because Tony Montana has just filled the room with smoke from his little friend ...

The Scarface transfer on the R2 disc is actually pretty good, really watchable.

This one might give away my age, but this from the start an oft rerun section of a movie from my mis-spent teenage years...

Of course, there is a better screenshot about 5 seconds later =)

An interesting aspect of the scene for me is that it is interlocked with the music playing on the soundtrack -- a perfect mixture of sight and sound.

I love taking screen captures!

And "The Matrix," while already covered here, has some great looking shots. I took 17 screen shots of pretty cool scenes and only made it through about half an hour of the film.

I'll add some captions.

She likes to be handcuffed.

Hold me closer tiny dancer.

Dude, take a chill pill.

Come get some.

I love how you can easily see that it's *not* Keanu Reeves in this shot - his Asian stand-in looks NOTHING like him.

Ooph.

There is no spoon.

And of course, the perfect Keanu dialogue:

Whoa.

Can't wait until 5/15.
