MGM's "UHF" DVD - no f'ing insert?

I would have searched for this, but I can't search on either MGM or UHF.

I finally got around to picking this up and noticed there's no insert. Did I get boned or is MGM just being a little punk?

There was no insert for it.

MGM is pretty random about which titles get inserts and which ones don't.

But UHF doesn't have one.

Most cheaper MGM titles don't bother with an insert. This was one of them. Calm the "f" down...

Since it retailed for about $10 I guess MGM just decided to skip it to keep their costs down. No real loss though if you ask me.

Unless it's some sort of booklet I've always found inserts to be kinda pointless. Pretty good disk though.

I did only pay about $6 for it, but I would have gladly paid an extra buck to have a nice booklet.

What the HELL people? Can't MGM make a stinkin' booklet?

Sheate. At least this one was in 16:9.

The disc is dirt cheap and loaded with extras, and you're still complaining?

They couldn't make a stinking booklet? C'mon.

Dang right I'm complaining. It's a black mark on an otherwise excellent disc.

As long as the disk is inexpensive, and of good quality, I can do without an insert.

Don't get me wrong, I like inserts, but they're not really a neccesity. They do make the inside of the case look nicer though. And it's nice to have a chapter list at the very least.

My point is: they've already spent the money to produce the disc, the extras, the case insert - would it have been too much effort/expense to make even a card with the chapters on it?

Just accepting that there's no insert means that they're likely to stop making them altogether.

I have never once removed an insert or booklet from a case, except when I'm stuck in traffic on the way home from the store. I guess I'm the reason they don't bother.

I think we may have found a new market here for custom disk inserts.

Uh, custom inerts are already available at www.dvdcoverart.com. But I agree booklets are more desireable. I think a mock TV Guide showcasing the shows on that UHF station would have been cool for a booklet for that movie, but what do I know? I'm just a poster on a message board.

I'll tell you what the F - insert. That's what. Do you not get how a really killer booklet would've completed the excellence of the package?

Do you not mourn for the lost opportunities here as I do? Do you not feel the absense of the insert - that empty slot where an insert would go - the clasps on the inside of the case, mocking me, taunting me with the POSSIBILITIES of its insert-ness?

Is it not futile to forget that there is no insert?

Are we not men?

If I'm really lucky, I'll forget that I clicked on this thread.

It wouldn't have had a nice booklet. It would have been a one page thing with the chapters on it so its no big loss. None of the cheap MGM titles have them.

Of all the silly things to get upset about. Its a $10 DVD and you want the Criterion treatment.

Well, I *do* want the Criterion treatment for this film, but that's beside the point.

You're all acting like an insert is no big deal, and I'm sayin' it is. Is it as important as an anamorphic transfer? No, but it's in the same ballpark.

I could do without inserts entirely. I can't recall a time I've ever looked at them, outside of the Criterions. And usually they've been mangled in the packing process. I'd rather have no insert at all than one that's been battered on the assembly line.

Sorry MGM screwed you on your $10 DVD, but you can either stop buying their DVDs (and Lions Gate because they don't do inserts either) or get over it, or maybe even both.
