Donnie, please. I hope so, since it is definetly my favorite movie, but I kind of doubt it.

I smell a Big Lebowski quote thread coming. May as well get the ball rolling.

Oh, nice marmot.

shut the f*** up donnie!

In all seriousness - I'd love to see this movie get a complete re-working as far as a DVD release goes. For that matter, I think it would behoove the Coen Brothers to go back and redo all their releases into super-packed SE releases...

If they don't put this out as an SE, I say it's because of the f***ing nihilists!

the best dialogue-driven movie of all time, in my opinion. i would love a commentary, in fact i've been holding off on buying the current version on dvd because of the faint hope that there will be an se in the future. a roomate has the bare-bones dvd, so i spend my money on things neither of us have!

Hahahaha... All great quotes so far, guess I'll add another:

Walter: "You wanna toe? I can get you a toe.. believe me.
There are ways... you don't want to know about it, believe me."

Dude: "Yeah, but Walter."

Walter: "Hell, I can get you a toe by three o'clock this afternoon... with nail polish."

As far as the SE goes, I figured nothing was in the works, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Keep the quotes coming, there's plenty to go around.

SHOMER F***IN SHABBAS!!

I have a general rule that if a movie is released Anamorphic then it's not a great idea to try to hold out for a SE, because I think that's the main reason to come out with a new transfer. So, that's my own personal justification for going for the "bare-bones". But let's all pray for a new SE someday...

Oh Boy!, another BL thread... There are soooo many great one-liners in that movie:

---------------
Maude Lebowski: What do you do for recreation?
The Dude: Oh, the usual. I bowl. Drive around. The occasional acid flashback.
---------------
The Dude: **** sympathy! I don't need your ****in' sympathy, man, I need my ****ing johnson!
Donny: What do you need that for, Dude?
---------------
Walter Sobchak: Am I wrong?
The Dude: No...
Walter Sobchak: Am I wrong?
The Dude: You're not wrong, Walter, you're just an *******!
---------------
The Dude: Hey, careful, man, there's a beverage here!
---------------

There's a ton more where that came from on IMDB

You might fool the ****s in the league office, but you don't fool Jesus! It's bush league psych-out stuff! Laughable, man! HA! I would've ****ed you in the ass with the barebones, I'll **** you in the ass with the SE instead!

(Own the current edition and love it, don't know about plans to re-release.)

Own the current edition, and would love a SE, but even in its mostly barebones glory, this is one of the ten DVDs I would take with me if I could only save ten in a fire.

"The bums lost! Condolences! The bums will always lose, do you hear me Lebowski?!? The bums will always lose!"

"I am the walrus."

"Yeah Dude, they peed on you effing rug,"

The current DVD is fantastic. I wouldn't hold off buying expecting an SE anytime soon.

- I hate the f*&ckin Eagles!

- "Like... new information has come to light, man!"

- "You think the carpet pissers did this?"
- "Well, Dude, we just don't know."

I actually didn't know the current version was anamorphic.
I must buy this today.
And, instead of a quote, I will leave this space blank so all can picture Donny's ashes blowing all over the dude's face. Hand's down my favorite, most humorous, part of the whole movie, dude.

If any movie deserves an SE, new transfer or no, this is it.

I think it's become the Coen Brothers' most loved (not 'popular', but loved) movie and is one of the prime classic comedies of the last 10-20 years.
