I just saw this movie for the first time only a few months ago, and it had me cracking up all night long. I also just watched Raising Arizona in my film history appreciation class a few weeks ago, and had no idea Nicholas Cage was such a funny guy.
Coen Bros. rock, and I must have this DVD, SE or no.

DUDE -- All you needed was a sap to pin it on, and you'd just met me. You thought, hey, a deadbeat, a loser, someone the square community won't give a s... about.
LEBOWSKI -- Well? Aren't you?
DUDE -- Well. . . yeah.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah man. Well, you know, the Dude abides.

This could be a lot more uh, uh, uh, complex, I mean it just might, it might not be such a simple, uh, you know?
Check out the IMDb trivia page. Lots of funny stuff that at least I had no idea about.

A Special Edition? This is the latest in a lifetime of challenges to be met!
"Please, man...I've had a rough day, and I hate the f***ing Eagles..."
"Do you like coitus?" (Julianne asks me that in my dreams. Frequently.)
She's your best bet to do a commentary. The Coens seem to be allergic to them.

Are you kidding? The Coens did one for both "The Man Who Wasn't There" and "Blood Simple".
And isn't there going to be a commentary track on the upcoming Barton Fink and Miller's Crossing discs? I know I read that they were recording them but I haven't looked at the disc specs yet.

For this movie I don't need a commentary nor extras. It stands so well on its own and is so rewatchable, nothing else can make it a better flick or make me like it more.
Saw it 3 times in the theater and owned on its release date. For some reason I couldn't care less about extras for Coen Bros movies. Maybe because they themselves care so little for them. On the other hand, when a guy like PJ goes out and fanatically creates tons of extras for LOTR, I'm all over it.

All that the Miller's Crossing disc has listed as extras is a set of interviews w/ Byrne, Turturro and M.G. Harden (
), plus two trailers for other Coen Bros. films.

Didn't the "The Man Who Wasn't There" commentary suck, though?
I mean, maybe it's better they don't comment on their films if they're not going to take it seriously.

Ahh, these are Mr. Lewbowski's 'kids'...
So, uh, Mr. Lebowski is racially, uh, pretty cool?
I know I messed it up because I don't own it (in a long line of comedies that I will pick the day I get my tax return in which I will enititle that day "Day O' Comedy Buying")

From the IMDB: "It proved impossible to get Walter's satchel of dirty undies to arc the right way when it was thrown out of the window of the Dude's car so the shot was filmed in reverse with an off-screen crew member throwing the briefcase towards the car while the stunt driver drove backwards."
Yeah, sure, and the dog in 'Blood Simple' was animatronic.
(BTW: Rather than a SE DVD, the Coen's need to do a *sequel*)

We actually may do a continuation. We're thinking of doing a down and dirty movie with him-- Jesus: The Second Coming. That thing is huge all over the world. People go insane over it, so we thought we've got to come up with the right story. We're in discussions to do it.

I'll be paraphrasing because I don't remember it exactly off the top of my head...
Dude: What's that your doing? Yoga?
Maude: It's supposed to increase the chance of conception.
Dude: (spitting his drink across the floor and choking) Let me tell you something about the dude...
