The Transporter -- missing WS label?

Love this movie, but ugh, I hate the way Fox handled the DVD release. It's double-sided ( ), has the special features split between the two sides ( ), and they didn't even bother to put a label around the inner ring on the widescreen side of the disc! It just looks like you've got the disc in the case upside down. Very lazy on their part.

Is everyone else's copy like this or did I just get a messed up one?

(yes, I know these are fairly minor things to bitch about, but they also really irritate me )

Mine's like that too.

I just finished watching mine; I'd never seen it before. Great blind buy!

They're all like that, but it does say on the Foolscreen side 'Reverse Side For Widescreen'.

The special features thing bothers me too. Reservoir Dogs had the features split up on both sides of the discs...gah. I hate that.

I thought this was pretty weird too, noting the fullscreen side that "reverse side widescreen," and then just making that side look like the bottom of any other DVD, w/no label whatsoever. But at least on the insert they call the widescreen side "Side A," as it clearly should not be side B.

And I agree w/RobCA. Excellent blind buy!

Yeah, I really don't like the layout of the features on the disc. They should've had all features on both sides(instead of splitting them up in an odd way), and made it a DVD-18 disc instead. No labeling on the widescreen side of the disc is silly, too.

I also personally thought the music was too overpowering over the sound effects, especially in the beginning car chase. I wanted to hear more roaring BMW engine

thought it was pathetic also, but did enjoy the flick. I never saw it either, but thats not a blind buy to me. did enough research on it to know I'd like it, and I love just about all Besson related films....yes, even Wasabi.

Did anyone watch the "extended" fight scenes? I'm sorry, but I didn't see more than maybe 5 seconds of added footage in the first two combined; didn't even bother watching the third since it didn't seem worthwhile. Kind of disappointing, but then again, I don't buy movies like this for the extras.

Aphex944: I agree about the music. It would've been nice to hear more "oomph" in the fighting and driving scenes, but the music *does* work really well in all of them. Kiss of the Dragon had a similar kind of soundtrack.

yes, even Wasabi.
Hey, you say that as though Wasabi is some shameful thing to enjoy watching! I loved it, too, and am definitely looking forward to Fanfan la Tulipe, the next Besson/Krawczyk colaberation.

When I opened the disc last night I noticed that...and was like "I should make a thread" and ended up not touching the PC all night...but it's good to see I'm not alone in my thoughts... now I have to get around to watching the movie (so little time, so much hockey)

Yep, just noticed the missing label too. What's up with that? Now when I put the disc back in the case, it looks like there's a blank DVD in it.

I'm laid up on the couch this weekend. my roomate rented this weekend and we started watching it. Those dreaded words flashed on the screen:
This film has been modified from its original version. It has been formatted to fit this screen.

Naturally, I started having heart palpitations. My roommate took the film out and went all the way back to the video store where they told him to flip the disk over

I thought flippers were pretty much done with now.

that is the funniest thing I have read all day. You didn't notice there was no label? Plus, technically it isn't a flipper. You don't have to get up and flip the disc in the middle of the movie. It is just double sided, which is fine by me. As long as I get my widescreen it is cool. Everyone is happy.
