Should I Buy The Matrix on DVD or wait?

I am yet to own The Matrix on DVD and with Matrix Reloaded approaching fast I'm feeling the need to watch it again. So should I wait for another version that is enevitable and will probably be 2 disks or shall I go ahead and order from DDD for $14.39?
Of course there is the option of waiting for The Matrix Trilogy Box Set
What Should I Do?

To feed your temporary Matrix jones... rent it or borrow from a friend. You've waited this long in owning it. I'd wait for the re-release. It'll be a nicer transfer.

At this point I'd wait. There's rumors of the mondo-mega-beall-set (that I'm sure will be "upgraded" a year after it comes out ) after all 3 movies have been released.

Your wait is over. Criterion announced today that they will be releasing a 2 disc edition on July 3rd. It's spine # 200 for those who care.

dead link.

If that is true, I would wait. But think of how many times you would watch it. Surely you could get $14 worth of entertainment out of it. I've watched it 5 or 6 times since it came out.

I agree with rockybalboa it's perfect now

Even though the Wachowki Bros took it from a older series called "The New Centurians" episode "Zone Dancers" for they also had a outside operator only Neo was Neon.

What the heck change some charactor names add humans instead of the cartoon characters, and you have a Wachowski Bros *original*.

Proof look it up "The New Centurians" 1987 episode "Zone Dancers".They can take the chance of being sued, I have watched "The Matrix" 85 times. I bought it for $20 I think I have my monies worth and your complaining about spending $14.95. LOL

The current transfer is good - but too many artifacts due to the fact that it was made in 1999 - many dvds from then show this. I would wait for a new release. They should have done this by now - who knows how long we'll have to wait for it.

It could be several years before the next Matrix DVD comes out. You'll just have to decide if you plan on watching it more than three times in the next two years, in which case the purchase price would be equal to a rental (3X) and pay for itself.

From what I hear the current version of the dvd will go out of print sometime before the end of the year and next year will probably be rereleased in a set with the 2 sequels with multi-disc editions for each. I will definitely hang onto my current disc for now, as I love watching it every now and then. May 15'th can't come fast enough.

Or else what? You "rough-up" Joel Silver?

You people are funny. Please repeat after me:

"No one owes me anything. Not even a DVD."

Right now, the talk is that there will probably be a better edition in the future. SOMETIME in the future. There has been no "early next year" release date yet.

Remember how long it took for "X-Men 1.5" to come out? Or "Black Hawk Down: SE"?

You could have quite a wait. The only question remains - do you want to wait a year or two or do you want to watch it now?

My big concern is that when RELOADED and REVOLUTIONS come out on DVD if they are going to be intial DVDs and then re-releases with the SE of Matrix...

Well, since Revolutions doesn't even open until November, it could be as late as next summer or fall before it even sees DVD at all, and then there's no guarantee that it'll be an SE right off the bat (although of course that's likely with Warner).

So then it could be awhile after it comes out that the original Matrix comes out in a new special edition, or the trilogy in a boxed set.

I'm not really looking forward to the snapper cases on these titles.

In Chicago, a traditional private eye by the name of Gabriel Knight is asked for help by Crystal Kane, to find out who framed her for Zone Dancing-illegal tapping into corporate computers by connecting people's minds into them. Having seen that Crystal was wearing a real droud (the skull plate allowing connection with computers), Knight seeks out Gibson, a former Zone Dancer who tells him about a dancer in the Zone named Neon who is reputed to have stolen data from Skyvault's computers. Meanwhile, Dr. Wu informs the Centurions that Megacorp, the company that designed Skyvault's beaming program, has had the program illegally duplicated by a Zone Dancer, who now has access to Skyvault's beaming files. Ace is sent to Chicago, along with John Thunder, who is specially recalled for the assignment. At Megacorp, Ace and John find Crystal stealing the data and wearing a droud. After escaping from her trap, they return to Skyvault and deduce that whoever stole the beaming program created a beam-clone of Crystal and is using her to steal data for them. Gabriel decides to go into the Zone himself to find out who is using Crystal's clone. Neon has Crystal's clone meet up with Ace, who tries to find out from her what is going on, but she escapes. Ace then meets up with Knight, and together they track down Neon.
It's amazing how accurately it mirrors the plot of The Matrix! Remember when Neo and Trinity took on the giant corporation, stole the beaming program, and created the beam-clone?

Wait for the Triology box set, it'll have much much more stuff. Probably 4 disc set.

Re: The Matrix is a clone

You'll be surprised how many people find every Sci-Fi, Comedy, Action, Porn, Mystery, etc. being a clone of some other movie in the same genre that's release last week...
