Roswell will eventually make it to DVD
Found this at Crashdown.com:
"An accurate source sent me this information. I'll try and see if I can get more information with some of my other contacts on this bit of news
I have information that Fox has contacted Jason Katims about putting out a Roswell DVD. I can not elaborate on anymore than that, other than to say that an executive at Fox said that it was due to them being inundated with letters, emails from fans. If they can do it cost worthy, music being the concern, it will probably get done."

It was that show that got me to try Dido. I would have thought all the new TV shows that showcase CDs on their shows would have put something in the contract to have the right to keep the music for the video/DVD. Everything from Buffy to Superman to Charmed showcase singers and their music.

Actually, I've really grown to prefer the Rose lineup on Charmed, both for babeitude and for story development, but that's just my opinion.
It's been extremely frustrating to see shows that ran for far less time show up on disc w/o a peep about the possibility of seeing Season sets of this underrated show. Extremely.

News from TVShowsonDVD.com:
Fox has scheduled the season one to be released sometime in Feb, 2004. The date will be confirmed when the set is officially announced, hopefully by the end of October.
We also learned that music in the show has been replaced for the DVDs, which isn't much of a surprise. We have no idea which songs were replaced, or how many, but we know of at least one new song added to the set. While fans may be upset by this, it had to be done. With the music companies blaming lower profits on file trading they have started viewing music licensing for DVDs as another source of income. Since there's no set price for music used on DVDs, this often results in the music companies asking astronomical prices. Studios are faced with the bottom line; can we afford to license all the music used in the show and keep the price of the set reasonable? Unfortunately the amount of music used in Roswell would force Fox to charge hundreds of dollars per set, pricing it out of the range of most fans.
So Fox was faced with replacing the music or not releasing the show at all. I think we can all agree that they're making the right choice by going ahead with the release. At least consumers will be buying the set knowing the music has been changed, which hasn't been the case with some sets from other companies.
Even with the music changes, I'm still looking forward to the set being released.
Thanks to Frank Forrester who wrote in to tell us that the music was being changed on the set. Frank let us know that "The Waking Hours" had licensed a song for the first season release which hadn't appeared in the broadcast airing.

I received the same email regarding Roswell.....
You would think music companies would be willing to go with a reasonable price and make some money on this release. But noooooo.....they want to be greedy so now they will receive nothing due to their greed for the almighty dollar.
Oh well.....I cannot wait for this release in February!!!

Its a bit crappy all round having too change a soundtrack because of greedy gits. The music really helped many scenes impact, now it will probibly not be as good, in fact if the music is wrong for certain scenes it will ruin it.

Looks like the RIAA wants everyone to bend over. First they get AMAZING exposure for these up and coming artists. These artists MAY have not made it if not for the international exposure they received. So great for everyone involved. Except when it's time to release a great show on DVD. Then the RIAA thinks they have leverage and everyone loses. WAY TO GO RIAA!!!
Just another reason to HATE these freaks I guess.
Lesson learned: TIVO any show you like and burn them onto DVDs if you want the original music.
Whatever...back to downloading music ........ j/k
