True, but a good marketing group is going to realize that people will eventually become frustrated, lose interest, and revolt.
I, and a lot of people, will not buy new copies of this set, for no other reason than to keep Fox from getting our money.
I know of at least six people who have extended their no-new DVD purchases to all Fox titles.

I can't imagine boycotting movies or shows that you enjoy. It's one thing because of price, but if they're taking their time on features that many people will enjoy thats perfectly fine to me. Extending that to all movies from the studio just doesn't make sense to me. Personally, i try and keep all business practices and such out of my purchase decisions. I buy what i want and what i like.

Eh, they will come out when they come out. It's on syndication all the time.

I like the commentaries and probably wouldn't buy the dvds without them. They planned on 2 sets a year and I think they just need to get their asses in gear and do that. I don't see why it's so hard to get 3 people who worked on the episode together and get it done. I don't really care who they get. The voice actors don't seem to be busy, throw them in the mix already! If Fox thinks they are taking too long than they should do something about these scheduling conflicts.

as much as i'd like commentaries for classics like Duff Gardens, i'm not sure they'll have much juice by the time they're done.
i have been dreaming of owning the show for years now, hell, over a decade, and i am tired of waiting. they may think they're doing it for the fans, but i think many of us are starting to get pissed.
it's time to let those babies go, and give us the wonderful transfers we've been dreaming of for AGES.
i started the collection based on the annouced schedule, and yet again i feel violated by a FOX decision (yes, not FOX so much as the producers in this case...).

The Simpsons is one of the most classic television shows ever. I've got a gazillion VHS tapes of most of the series **god that took a long time to tape** and owning it on DVD was great news. The only real reason I buy the set is for the episodes of The Simpsons. I mean commentaries and whatever stuff they throw on the set, that's stuff I'll watch/listen to, but I would buy the set without a second thought without any commentaries. Family Guy seasons 1 and 2 on DVD soon and season 3 **another 21 episodes, 22 if they include the weinstein ep**, is slated I guess for September. They'll prolly have only a few episodes with commentaries, but I wish Simpsons could move alone like this!

I do not watch or own any Simpsons DVDs, but I did pick up volume one of Futurama. It has commentary on every episode, which I enjoyed immensely. Granted, there are only 13 episodes, so it was probably quicker to do.
Volume two of Futurama is slated for September 2, 2003. I imagine there will be commentaries on that set as well. I don’t quite understand why it’s so difficult to give commentary tracks on one series and not another. Excluding Matt Groening, aren’t the creators essentially the same? Maybe the task of watching/recording commentary for 250+ episodes is a little daunting/intimidating and they're pacing themselves with The Simpsons? If this is the case, maybe being more selective on which episodes to provide commentary on is in order, so that a semiannual release schedule can be kept.

I'm looking foward to "Bart the Heir" where Bart will take over Mr. Burns money when he dies. They cut out the funny parody of Sliver (that Sharon Stone flick) in syndication where it shows Homer's secert shame!

Regarding Commentaries
I enjoy listening to the commentaries too. The writers seem to have a lot of fun doing them. But what would really be great would be if some of the voices of the characters did commentaries where they are free to ad lib in the characters voices and create an all new version of an episode we already have seen. Imagine the possibilities!
