Novocaine DVD - Your thoughts...
I was thinking of buying this DVD since I found it for a good price and the reviews Ive seen for it werent all bad. A dark comedy seems to be right down my alley; but I havent found much reviews (3) so I thought Id ask to see what everyone here thinks of this movie. How is the movie? Any thoughts or opinions?

It's a cute flick but unless it's under 5 dollars, I would avoid it. Heck..I wouldn't pay 5 dollars for it. I rented it, watched it, have no desire to see again.
In other words, if you really feel it's something you want to be able to watch more than once, go for it...I certainly wouldn't.

I think it's a pretty underrated movie that just doesn't get the respect it deserves. If you haven't heard, it's a mixture of dark comedy and film noir, that succeeds on both levels, IMHO. Obviously, it's not your basic Steve Martin movie, so don't go expecting The Jerk. But hey, it's only $5.88 at Wal-Mart and has a ton of extras, so that definitely justifies a purchase if you ask me. It's basically one of those love it or hate kind of flicks...I say give it a chance and judge for yourself.
If you haven't read them already, here's a few reviews:

Wow, I'm surprised by the negative comments. I loved this movie! The fact that it's already $6 at Wal-Mart, while so much other complete junk remains at $20 is downright criminal.

I also enjoyed this movie but was not shocked by the negative comments. This is really a love it or hate it film. I definitely find it worth the $5.88 at Walmart...

Unlike some people here, I can't find anything bad to say about this movie. The story had me gripped, all the main characters were perfectly cast, and there are many surprises along the way. I had the feeling I was watching a deformed version of Office Space. The directing styles are very similar. The score is brilliant too.

I forgot I made this thread! Thanks for making it pop back up!
I bought the movie and thought it was fantastic! One of my best Blind Buys I would think. I loved the score and the acting in there. Some great actors showed up (Keith David, Elias Koteas, etc) and Kevin Bacon had one of the BEST damn cameos I have ever seen. Im real happy I got this movie and I HIGHLY reccomend it.

I liked the movie, and the extras were good as well. If I remember correctly the commentary was pretty interesting.

Wow. That's an amazing post.
As far as the movie, I saw it in the theater when it was released, and I liked it. In fact, I picked up the DVD at Best Buy when it was first released for $9.99.
Not an award-winner, nor one of the best movies in my relatively small collection. But good enough, at $5.88, for a couple of viewings -- especially since it involves viewing Helena Bonham Carter.

I hated this movie.
That scene with the teeth was probably one of the most gruesome things I have ever seen in a movie. It really disturbed me, and I already have nightmares about losing my teeth,
My husband & both felt the same way, and we watch tons of movies. This is the one we would never want to watch again.
