I've asked myself the same question regarding Jurassic Park. I'm a little less than thrilled with DD 5.1 version. As far as SPR, I say you should get the DTS. It's phenomenal. You could always just rent it and try it out. Or just sell your current one on ebay and buy the DTS from ebay, you'll probably break close to even.

With PC speakers I wouldn't even bother. No matter how good they are when compared to other PC speakers, they won't have the fidelity and volume to do justice to an action DTS track - maybe a musical DTS track like on the Red Violin where volume is not necessarily a major part of the experience, and even then, only a maybe. SPR is meant to be played loud, house shakingly loud, and PC speakers won't get anywhere near loud enough before distorting beyond recognition. Go for the regular edition with the extras, you'll never hear the difference.

I personally prefer to the get DD version when it has extra content..... and when I eventually get a system that can do justice to a good action DTS film (as mentioned above)... I plan to double dip on a couple films.
With Columbia House, I really don't think the cost is too much... esp considering it's a 'down the road' thing.

As to getting SPR DTS, yes I'd get it. I actually have both as SPR is 2nd on my all time favorite movie list so I have both the extra's on the DD 5.1 and the DTS. It sounds phenomenal on them.
Edit------------------
Here is a quote from Home Theater magazine on the 680's:
Logitech has combined all of the flexibility, simplicity, and trim lines of the best multimedia gear with the quality and sophistication to serve in the living room, built to last and with out compromise.

Since you have decided to rebuy, it would be very useful for future buyers if you would post a comparison - make sure to level match between the two soundtracks, simply leaving the volume knob at the same setting isn't enough to do an accurate comparison - anti-DTS people often complain that DTS soundtracks are mastered a few dB louder than the DD versions.
