DVD Talk Limited Edition
...the Night and Fog release also has a 14.99 MSRP to reflect it's status as a short film.
I think it's a pretty good deal on Criterion's part but it's all in the way you look at it. I, for one, don't particularly care to watch Hiroshima Mon Amour again but would love to own Night and Fog... so Criterion's little mini-release works for me.
On the other hand, if you really want both of them, then I can see how having to purchase another disc might seem like Criterion's trying to fleece your pocketbook.
You also have to consider that Night and Fog's release contains a healthy amount of extras. If they chose to just slap Night and Fog onto Hiroshima Mon Amour, they'd have to lose the extras... and IMHO would be doing that film a great injustice.

Okay, I know I'm thread crapping, but I had to put my $0.02 in.

But what are the spine numbers???
For those keeping score:
196 = Hiroshima Mon Amour
197 = Night and Fog
198 = Ali: Fear Eats the Soul
... and the countdown to #200 continues....

I've been looking everywhere and can't find places that list soon-to-go-out-of-print. Are there sites that especialize in that info? Also, what Criterion sites do you all know about? I know about www.criterionco.com and www.criteriondvd.com. I'm starting the collection and would like to keep the unattainable-below-$200 titles list as short as possible. I'd like to know of must-buys NOW before they shoot up in price.
Also what happened to the Criterion bargains list? It all but died.

Perhaps you are unaware of the spectacular, amazingly thorough Criterion Collection Forum. You should be able to find out almost anything about Criterion there, and often before any other sites do.
