The only clear case I've run across is my Basic Instinct SE. I hope I never get stuck with something like that again.

I don't really care much for them myself, but whatever trips your trigger is all good...
I got the WS Last Man on Earth from Diamond, and it came in a clear case. The cover was double sided, but what you saw on the inside was advertising for other Diamond DVDs. I thought it looked tacky (as if the cover wasn't tacky enough) so I put it in a black case and set the clear one aside. Later I bought a copy of Night on the Galactic Railroad, which had credit info on the reverse of the cover, but was in a black case. So, pulled out the clear case and did another swap.

I think they're pretty neat looking myself.

I think the Beatles Anthology is one of the best-looking box sets I've seen in a while, no flimsy cardboard like the Godfather set...

I received my Beatles Anthology with one case with a broken hub. I've temporarily replaced it with a spare, black alpha case but would really like to replace it with a clear case identical to the rest. Anybody know where I can buy a very small quantity of matching cases? The ones at www.tapeandmedia.com have a minumum order size of 30, and I'm not 100% sure they'll match closely enough (it says they accomodate 2 discs with an optional insert -- are they then wider than the cases in the Anthology?).

I've got a few non-R1 DVD's with clear keepcases and I think they look pretty nice. I'd be happy to see them here in R1 when applicable.

The earliest example of clear cases in region 1 is the Criterion 3 disc Brazil set. All three keepcases were transparent. That was July '99

I don't like them, becuase it's a different type of plastic. Black cases have a little bend to them, clear cases break and shatter easily...

Are you thinking of clear jewel cases? The ones I, and I'm sure the rest of us mean are near-transparent amaray cases that have the same flexibility of the black/grey amaray cases.

Must be different from what I'm thinking of. The jewel cases have the same type of plastic as the inside of the Deep Space 9 cases, which I don't like (broke easily).

Yeah, the hard plastic jewel case-type ones suck. I've got a couple of old Polygram DVD's like that. Pray you don't drop those suckers.
