I would like to know what you thought of the film by Powell and Pressburger, since I have not seen it and I am about to order the criterion version. Is it worth it?

The review cited above is about the film, which is a bonafide classic fantasy/romantic ballet tale, based on the Hans Christian Anderson story. A topnotch criterion effort with an excellent transfer, vibrant colors, and an excellent commentary from several contributors including scorsese and, some 47 years later, the lead actress. A definite keeper.

I saw this film Saturday afternoon, which was very timely moment for this very artistic film. I deeply enjoyed its slow pace, which provided enough space for thought and reflection of why. I encourage anyone who enjoys film for more than a subliminal squandering of time where a mass quantity of external stimuli is the representation of a good film to watch this masterpiece.
