I'm thinking about grabbing the CC of this and I need some opinions on the movie itself.

It is always difficult to recommend a film, as tastes can be strange.

The Criterion Disk is great, the commentary track is fantatic, and I think that the film stands up to repeated viewings, as there are so many wonderful scenes. If you are at all a fan of Monty Python or Gilliam this is a good one to own.

No. The picture is decent though. I love this movie, but it is subdued British humo(u)r.

Great movie, very good disc.

But I'm a completely spoogarific Gilliam fan, so take that into account.

I like the old Monty Paythons such as "Life of Brian", "Quest for the Holy Grail" and 12 Monkeys is one of my favorite movies. Considering my self I big Terry Gillam fan I recently starting chechink out his eailir non -python films. I got Brazil and didn't really care for it.

How does time bandits and his other works fit in. More like time brazil or the other works. I know this is hard if not maybe impossible to answer. I'm just curious as I was really expecting to like brazil, but when i did not I lost some intrest in seeing the other 2 films in this so called Trilogy.

Well, Brazil is a movie of very dry, dark and understated humor, coupled with brilliant visuals -- and a fascinating history.

There's nothing understated about Time Bandits. It's one of Gilliam's most easily accessible and fun movies -- and one of the easiest to recommend to almost anybody who loves Python OR Gilliam. You're likely to enjoy both Bandits AND Munchausen -- but especially Bandits.

I agree with adamblast. This is an adventure film about a kid, for kids, with many adult jokes/references. Very accessible (unlike Brazil).

adamblast is vey accurate. Time Bandits was my all time childhood favorite for years. I thought the concept from a child's perspective was super neat.

I didn't like Time Bandits when I first saw it - but got it on DVD and while I saw new things in it, I still wasn't gung ho about it. I then got the Criterion Collection edition and listened to the commentary - and a lot of things fell into place... an excellent movie (and one of my favorites now)
