I ordered The Big Kahuna on the strength of
Kevin Spacey and good reviews. I don't watch
films in the theatre so all new films I see
are purchased on dvd sight unseen. This is
basically a filmed play. It's simply two or
three men in a room talking. So the only thing that counts here is the acting and the
script. In the case of this film it's quite
enough. This is an excellent film. It's always enjoyable and never slow. The script
is excellent and the acting is phenomenal.
Keven Spacey turns in his usual terrific performance and Danny Devito turns in what is very possibly the best performance of his career. The third actor, Peter Facinelli, is also good but no match for his compadres.
The video (anamorphic widescreen) and audio
(5.1 DD) are fine. This isn't the kind of film where you really notice either much.
If you enjoy terrific acting with excellent
dialog get this film. If not, watch ID4 again.

I had heard that the whole movie is 3 guys talking, and that's pretty much it. Given that, it was much better than I expected, I enjoyed it. Definately more of an arthouse flick

I walked into this one sight unseen and without much other then reading the back of it. sure not american beauty, but spacy did a great job. devito, i agree, was one of his best roles to date. it really kept my interest and really did enjoy this one a great deal. the third character, i didn't much like him, of course, compared to spacy and devito, his acting was blahish indeed. but very great dvd all around.
