Twolane blacktop will soon be out in a limited edition collectors tin. So, what the hell is this "tin" anyway? Anybody got a picture of it? Also, could anybody post some impressions of TwoLane Blacktop? I heard its an excellent chase movie, and I'm wondering if its a good buy

There are about 4 threads going on in the DVDTalk forum about the Anchor Bay tins... look there for more info.
In short: some people like them, some people hate them, some people don't care.
If the T-LB tin is the same as the others, you are going to get an oversized tin that contains the DVD (in a CD-type jewel case), a chapter listing card with the poster art on the reverse, and a booklet with mostly pictures and a little text.
I've actually never seen Two-Lane Blacktop, so I can't comment on the movie. There are some pretty bad reviews of the film on the net (but some good ones as well). Doesn't sound like my type of movie, but I'll probably give it a rental.

As for the tin, there is nothing special
inside. However, being that they are
oversized, they are rather nice to
display if the cover is cool. (I love
displaying my Repo Man tin with an 80s
California license plate. The 2-LBT cover
is pretty cool as I baught the VHS tin
last year...don't ask why.
As for the movie itself...it's great. An often overlooked drive-in classic. How
often do you get James Taylor and muscle
cars?

...ditch the tin and run over to Sam's Club (an ersatz-warehouse center)
They have DVD 2-packs for $20. I picked up Two Lane Blacktop and The Car for $20. If I were a less ethical person, I would've bought an extra set and "returned" them to MediaPlay (they have TLB for $30 and TC for $28)
Both films are worth the $10 a piece that I paid... but I couldn't see spending $20 or more for Two Lane Blacktop alone... tin or not.

It’s a good well-featured disc with a nice transfer. Movie is a little weird and definitely a cult type flick, you may love it, you may hate it. You can pick up the tin for $20.40 at A&B Sound - almost 50% off. Be warned though, it’d be worth checking out other Anchor Bay tins first as not everyone like them.
