Assuming Criterion doesn't redo their LD in the future, the MGM version will be the only one on DVD in the forseeable future. I'm looking more for a review of the quality of the DVD rather than the film itself. I know there aren't any extras on it, but opinions on video and sound quality(taking into account it being originally done in mono)would be appreciated.

I think the video and audio quality are excellent on the MGM DVD. It is apparently 16x9 enhanced, and the colors are much more vibrant than any previous home video incarnation I've seen.
The DVD does include a very entertaining trailer and the typical MGM booklet. I certainly recommend this DVD to fans of the movie.
