Christopher Walken & Willem Dafoe based on a story by William Gibson
quote:<HR>
from DVDexpress (which I assume is the back cover of the DVD)
From acclaimed writer William Gibson comes an exotic
cyberpunk fantasy where technology is the ultimate
game and nobody plays by the rules. To engineer the score of their lives, two
friends (Christopher Walken and Willem Dafoe) train an amoral young bar girl
(Asia Argento) to seduce and induce a radical geneticist worth billions to his
corporate masters. Be prepared for a riveting vision of a frightening future, where
global corporations control the world and high stakes industrial espionage is
where the action is. Directed by Abel Ferrara (Bad Lieutenant).

It played for like a week in L.A. and, being both a Gibson and a Ferrara fan, I just had to check it out.
Weird flick. The action is pure Gibson--high-tech future, low-life mercs, corporate con jobs, etc.--but the dialogue is pure Ferrara--MF, this, FU that. Very un-Gibson, if you know what I mean. Unfortunately, the two styles do not mix well.
Also, the budget must have been real low because this is a sci-fi flick with no sci-fi effects, a la "Alphaville".
Still, Walken is Walken, which is always a treat, Dafoe is pretty good and Argento is a babe. Not great, but interesting enough for a rental.
