I did not see American Pie, but I wanna say to the person who thought it was indicative of juvnile crap like South Park...
I loved Election and think that Rushmore is one of the best and funniest films of our lifetime, plus I'm not a huge fan of the South Park tv show HOWEVER: I would say that South Park the movie was the funniest, SMARTEST comedy to come out in 1999 and stands as a sign that subversive, intelligent humor can be used in a crass, immature way to create something completely original and engaging. After the movie the tv show seems even stupider than before, an unfortunate comparison, but that shouldn't take away from the movie itself.

I have to agree this movie was far better in the theater. I saw a sneak preview of it in a jammed theather and there we're definetly some hilarious moments. The whole ending sequence with the flute and "Say my name!" was probably the hardest I've ever laughed at a single joke.
I also like south park, again I saw it in a jammed theater. Being with a whole bunch of people really ads to those kinds of movies.
And for the record, I also enjoy comedies like Election which would probably rank in my top 5 movies of the year. Oh and 17 here also.

Okay, so it's a little formulaic! What were people expecting? When critics called it "Porkys" for the '90s, they were right on. My wife and I were howling over the pale ale, Eugene Levy's deadpan rationalizations, and all those times at band camp. Sometimes you have to let art just flow over you!

I thought it was funny!
I guess they just want people to think back about high school.
Some of you must have gone through some of that.
I'm 99.9% sure that no one did the pie thing though...
If anyone did, you can message and tell me..I won't tell! *Wink*
Oz was just a guy that tried to be something that people would not portray him as since he was a jock.
Stifler, now everyone had a guy like that with them in high school.
Well, all in all I enjoyed it!

my wife & i thought it was great. very funny flick. a lot better than most teen-age sex flicks. i was disappointed that there was so little t&a. i was expecting a bit more with the MPAA having such a cow about the movie.
