anyone else notice that Saving Private Ryan on DVD is simply a letterbox strip that they cut out of the fullscreen??? I was watching SPR on HBO and I noticed that their fullscreen contained everything my DVD had (they didn't blow up the letterbox or anything.)My DVD appears to be a strip down the middle of the fullscreen image. Anyone else have a big freakin' problem with this or is it just me????

Well, at least he isn't complaining about the "shoddy transfer".
And getting a jump on the other replies, I'm surprised that Speilburg was able to film some of those scenes in such a manner that they could open up the matte. Those battle scenes in particular I would expect to see boom mikes dropping into frames, marks for the explosive charges and such. Or perhaps those scenes are pan and scanned and only the more character scenes are open matte...
