I started watching this movie expecting something along the lines of Silence of the Lambs, with Anthony Hopkins basically playing the same role and Cuba Gooding Jr. as Jodi Foster. I was right for the first 45 minutes. Then it took a left turn in Kenya to become the Gorillas in the Mist. The Lambs then have an Awakenings and go to meet Mighty Joe Young. All the while it was Dead Men Walking around a bunch of Crazy People in search of the Shawshank Redemption. In other words, bits and pieces of a lot of movies. Did I enjoy it...yes, but it is not as satisfying as most of those other films.
The disc is dual layered, but I don't think its anamorphic, but I could be wrong. Its a Touchstone. It is a color saturated picture with good detail, especially the jungle scenes. There aren't a lot of seperate surround effects, but there is an enveloping soundfield brought about primarily by the rousing music score written by Danny Elfman.
Extras consist of a trailer and film recommendations. What a laugh. I can't remember all six but three were The Rock, Ransom and I Got Game. Now tell me from my review, do any of these make sense to you?

Being a Buena Vista DVD, it is most definitely not anamorphic.

All I can say is that Instinct is one AWESOME movie!!.. I enjoyed it just as much as I enjoyed Never Been Kissed and Aspen Extreme.. two movies I'd never get sick of.

yeah, I haven't seen it yet, but I heard it was better than Wild Wild West AND the Haunting. Surely no film could be THAT good, but I might have to see for myself.
