That is one of my favorite movies. It's part of the Brassed Off/ Little Voice/ Full Monty variety. The dvd itself is just bare bones- no extras- basic menus. The video and sound quality is okay, not bad, but nothing exceptional. I wish the dvd had more extras, but since I like the movie, I have to own it. Maybe a special edition will come out in the future but I wouldn't hold my breath.

The Canadian version of "Trainspotting" contains about 20 minutes of interviews and deleted scenes. You can usually pick it up for the same price you would find at a retail store. I've also heard rumors of a Criterion edition being released...but as far as I know, it is just a rumor.

The Criterion DVD release is just a rumor right now, but they did put out a Criterion laserdisc of the film.

The Canadian DVD extras are from this laserdisc and the LD has audio commentary as well...

Anyway, DVDBOY, "Trainspotting" is one of my favorite recent movies. It manages to mix serious topics with a ton of humor and maintains a great balance between the two. Definitely worth getting.

I thought this movie was very well done, especially the opening and closing.

Personally, I'm waiting for a better version to come out, cuz of the Criterion LD, Buena Vista's saying it'll put more stuff on its DVDs in general, Pulp Fiction is supposedly gonna be redone, etc. it's definitely a great movie, it's just that the current DVD ain't worth it.
