Well, before I even begin to praise this disc, I need to point out a major defect. This is now widely known for those who follow anime on dvd. The center channel in the 5.1 english track is not present. Though your receiver/decoder may read a signal, if you stick your ear to your center speaker, nada, nothing, zip, zilch. Will this be fixed or an exchange offered, who knows, but my bet is no. So the English track is 4.1 while the Japanese track is 2.0.
The anime itself is incredible, though years old now the animation quality is still superior to most current releases! This is true to the Macross of old, fast paced action, a great story line, and of course lotsa music (good or bad is up to personal taste).
The picture quality on the DVD is among the best I've seen in anime. DVD truly shows off the rich & vibrant colors present in Macross Plus. The 4.1 english track is still very watchable, but purists will probably prefer the Japanese track as the voices are better acted.
Anime fans pick these 2 discs up, non-anime fans, rent it from netflix and I bet most of you will end up buying these incredible discs.
IMHO
