The extras sound great, how is the sound and movie quality? Is it a story for the whole family?

The "Red Shoes" is an excellent and visually stunning movie and the transfer is excellent considering the age of the film. This film has been an inspiration for many a dancer and the Broadway musical "A Chorus Line" takes some of it's influence from the film as well. If you like ballet or the theatre in general, you will love this film.

As far as being a family film, It's really more of a grown up film. I doubt kids would have much interest in it.

If you're looking for a family oriented film in a similar genre, I would recommend "Hans Christian Anderson" starring Danny Kaye. Another very fine film (I have not seen the DVD version), that kids will enjoy as well.
