I'm not sure what you mean by image reviews (studio, video transfer). I actually saw this one on VHS, before I had a player. The movie may be worth a rent, but I wouldn't blindly purchase this one. It is decent. My main problem with the movie is that it felt dated. I don't think it withstood the test to time. And I know this may sound strange, but the leading ladies of that time were generally not as attractive as the leading ladies of today (with the exception of Cybil Shepard).

Robert,
You're review of Body Heat made me feel like an old fart.
In my opinion this is a wonderful film, even by today's standards.
The leading lady, Kathleen Turner, was a knock-out in her early years and still looks pretty good today, despite some health problems she's had to endure.
The male leads are played by William Hurt, and Richard Crenna two of America's finest actors, and Ted Danson, one of America's most popular actors, in a role he played well.
Unfortunately, the DVD quality is not very good. I don't know whether it's the age of the film (1981), mediocre film elements, or just a poor transfer.
In any case, at the very least this film is still worth a rental.
Follow-up: Thanks for the support Jeff, we old farts need to stick together. Maybe we should request our own "Old Farts - The Older We Get, The More Opinions We Have" forum!

Glad to be in such fine company! Who'd a thunk us old farts could actually contribute something.
This movie holds a special place in my heart, even today, as one of the most erotic and sensual movies ever. Maybe it's just me, but the raw power of Ned's obsession won me over. The scene where Ned watches through the window has got to be one of my favorite scenes of all time. If that's not passion, I don't know what is.
I agree with Ed that the transfer is not perfect, but it's not bad either. Just not up to the standards we've come to expect. I don't regret buying it, and would do so again.
