These "October Horror Movie Challenge" threads are for the discussion of the films in the 31 FILM SUBSET list.
The plan is for everyone to watch this film on the October day in the thread title, and to start discussing it the morning of the following day.
You may start discussion early if you want, but the preferred plan is for this to be as much of a group exercise as possible, with all of us viewing it "together" and discussing after.
Of course, you are totally encouraged to participate in these threads even if you haven't watched the movie on the designated day.
Even if you haven't watched it in years, or are not participating in the Horror Challenge, please feel free to chime in.
Spoiler tags aren't always used in here, so if you have yet to see the film BEWARE OF POSSIBLE SPOILERS.

Great film. There's a lot going on in Thirst. At first I thought it was a serviceable safe vampire film with the unusual twist of a priest being the vampire then I was curious by how quickly he shed his piousness for wanton sexual bloodlust - but that was only the beginning. It is interesting that the priest's morals return in sort of a self serving twist not excluding convenient murder. I think the moral ambiguity was a centerpiece of the film but sometimes didn't gel so bringing in a more savage counterpart gave a nice comparison. The ending was heartfelt and wonderful, a satisfying conclusion. Thirst manages to balance in humor well with the mother in law, fake rape, ankles, etc.

Modern asian take on the vampire mythos. Not sure why but I was not into this film I thought the run time was too long at 2 hrs 15 min. i need to give it another watch at some point. 6/10

The director's cut with the alternate color timing is the only way to watch this film. The DC is 148-minutes long.

A little long, but some nice storylines and unique takes on the topic. Great choice, probably would have never seen it otherwise. thanks Ben!

What, no Ghoulies? No melting homeless people? Is this really my subset pick?
Thinking back over the last few challenges, Train To Busan, #Alive, I Saw The Devil and now this. Korea is killing it with the genre movies.
How did I let this languish in my 'to watch' pile for so many years?

I've been meaning to watch this one for a while. I tend to like Chan-Wook Park's movies, and this one is no exception, though it was a bit long. I loved the look of the film, though, especially when they painted the house all white.
There were also some character beats that didn't feel quite real to me, particularly from the priest. I get that he's in a moral conflict but that ever-shifting morality scale seemed awfully self-serving. I get how seeing what he has created would put that in sharper focus, though.
And the mother-in-law also baffled me. She knows what they are, what they're capable of. She had to know she was leading her friends to slaughter by telling them about her son's murder. I guess she got her satisfaction in the end. I guess. Because who knows how long she'll be sitting in that hot car.
I wonder how much more the director's cut fleshes out some of these things. I should read up some on it.
I guess on a side note, if you had told me 10 years ago that an Asian director would break through and win Oscars for best picture and director with a foreign language movie, my money probably would have been on Chan-Wook Park or maybe Wong Kar-Wai. That's not meant to knock Bong Joon Ho; he's very deserving of his success. I guess it's more saying I'm surprised the focus has sort of faded from those filmmakers. Or maybe I'm off on that. I know The Handmaiden was well received.

A bit long but a lot was going on too. With the manifestation of her powers the girl showed that she was not a good person although that could be due to the circumstances of her life. To vampire, or not vampire, that is the question.
