DVD Talk review of 'Brokeback Mountain - 2-Disc Collector's Edition'

I read Jamie S. Rich's DVD review of Brokeback Mountain - 2-Disc Collector's Edition at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=26091 and... while the review itself was great, its message is about Hollywood greed and little else. To bring out a collector's edition (tsk, tsk) without deleted scenes and a commentary is simply unthinkable. Focus Features, what are you thinking, you greedy b------s? You could have rounded up Heath and Jake or other principles because everyone out here is drooling for that. Shameful, shameful, shameful. I shall not buy this dvd and will wait for one that will make us ALL proud.

While I typically don't buy re-releases based on principle alone (studio greed), I have to confess that this is one for which I will break my self-imposed rule. The movie is that important to me, and I'll take anything I can get. I'll simply sell the old one and make it slightly less painful, financially speaking.

Yes, I realize it is reasons like this that encourage studios to keep doing this.

Here's a direct comparison of the two over at DvdBeaver. It looks like the new release is brighter.

DVDbeaver is just great, I picked this up a day or 2 ago, it's not worth the upgrade at all over the original release. Only if you can find it fairly priced for say $9 or so............ The packaging is nice and all, but this is just a cheap attempt at a 2-disc CE from Universal.

Good to see a DTS track has been added. Something Universal doesn't do near enough of like they used to.
