I'm looking for shows on DVD similar to Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared

and Life as we know it, to a lesser extent. My friend and I saw all these shows and I want to get her something that's similar (or at least have an idea of the shows first), maybe something else by Judd Apatow, or just a similar show. Thanks for any tips!

The only shows Apatow has participated in:

- Undeclared (cancelled after one season)
- Freaks and Geeks (cancelled after one season)
- The Critic (cancelled after two seasons on two networks)
- The Ben Stiller Show (cancelled after one season)
- The Larry Sanders Show (which nobody liked, thus why it was on the longest)

All the other shows he had his hand in didn't make it past pilot. All of the above shows can actually be found on DVD in one form or another.

My So Called Life is another brilliant, but cancelled teen-angst ridden television show. However, the DVD set that Rhino put out years ago is now OOP.

I can't think of any similar television shows like the sort that have made it to DVD.

Never knew Apatow was part of the Critic...That with Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared was some of the best TV out there...

You might want to also check out "Veronica Mars" (maybe a little more mainstream / thillery than you like thoug), and there is always "Felicity" (a very realistic (in most ways) look at a girls four years in college) and "popular" (basically a satire on teen dramas).

oh, and Apatow (I believe he is just a staff writer though) has just aired his latest series 'what about brian' which hasn't had the best ratings, but went from a really crappy pilot to a great series in the span of about 5 episodes, as has been picked up for a second season.

Judd Apatow has nothing to do with What About Brian. The only Apatow connection regarding that show are the writers/producers who went from Freaks and Geeks to Life As We Know It helped shape this show.

As from what we've seen with Life As We Know It, What About Brian sucks as well.

Matthew, did Judd Apatow shoot your dog or something? What's with the personal vendetta?

Nobody liked The Larry Sanders Show? Yeah, whatever....

It's not on DVD now, but for future reference I'd like to suggest the sitcom "Square Pegs" if it ever gets released. Its one and only season ran from 1982-1983. It's about some really smart high school kids. One of them is played by Sarah Jessica Parker (the actress from "Sex In The City.") It's a very very smart, quirky show.

Yeah, I don't get that comment about nobody liking The Larry Sanders Show. I own the season 1 release and have always hoped that more of this show would find its way onto DVD.
