I agree this should be a sticky. I searched for other posts because I knew it had been asked many times. When you search for DVD and add surround to it you get many, many posts.

The DTS Tracks on Kill Bill Vol. 1 (Vol. 2 is a bit more muted) and Hero ... the DTS 6.1 (Discrete) tracks on The Lord of the Rings Extended Editions, The DTS Track on Chicago, and the Dolby Digital 5.1 track on King Kong (2005) are just some from my personal collection which have stood out for me.

Saving Private Ryan (DTS) is on a lot of people's list. I like Spider-Man (superbit) too.

Edit: Forgot Twister. That's the one I use to demo most of the time.

the new "Event Horizon" has some utterly amazing bass in a lot of parts. it literally shook my room like no other in awhile.

also, i bought the "War of the Worlds" LE just because that sound was amazing and so so loud!

All for surround sound performance, not bass hits (though most of these have excellent dynamic range) or film quality.

Master and Commander, without a doubt!

A strange one but believe it or not "Days of Thunder" sounds pretty wild through my system.

Surprised nobody mentioned Batman Begins. It's DD 5.1 rivals some of the best DTS tracks I've heard. Definitely achieves chest-thumping demo quality surround sound on this track.

I've just recently watched Batman Begins ... the soundtrack isn't that great at all IMHO.

Last night I tried most all the movies mentioned. Saving Private Ryan is by far the best. War of The Worlds should have been good, IMHO the music ruined what could have been fantastic surround and great bass.
