DVD Talk review of 'Last Holiday'
I read Eric D. Snider's DVD review of Last Holiday at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=21411 and... I disagree!
Queen Latifah is stunning in this movie and when you see her emerge from a shy retail worker to a true Queen, you can't help but applaud. "Last Holiday" will make you feel good about yourself and asks you to live life to the fullest. The characters are not one-dimensional too; many will assume Alicia Witts' character will be an ice queen but later discover there's more beneath the surface.
Although Georgia Byrd is no saint, she does not judge others like they judge her by her appearance. That's why the audience roots for her; she is likeable, warm, and treats everyone equally.
It's not a perfect movie, but it sure is a fun one. I believe everybody will see a little bit of Georgia Byrd in themselves. The secret to life truly is butter.
