Matt, thanks. It was your glowing review that brought this movie to my attention. I was actually looking for additional reviews, "second opinions" if you will. Thanks for sharing -- I'll check out Savant's review.
How's that OMEGA MAN DVD? Anyone? Just wondering if I should add it to my collection, alongside SOYLENT GREEN....

If you like Soylent Green, chances are that you'll love The Omega Man... It's a better film (IMHO) with much more in the replay department... That said, keep in mind that it has a healthy dose of 70's crossover sci-fi cheese... But it's a fun flick that I've seen several times and currently own...
On the DVD... The transfer is good and solid, anamorphic... Mono soundtrack is fine, clean. A few extras, although I don't recall spinning em'... Here's a review from the Verdict > http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/omegaman.shtml

Realizing I'm probably in the minority, I think THE OMEGA MAN is bloody awful (seek out THE LAST MAN ON EARTH for a better filmed adaptation of the Richard Matheson novel on which it's based), although it looks and sounds better than ever on DVD.
We reviewed this disc upon release last year, if you're interested in a more detailed negative opinion - http://filmfreakcentral.net/dvdreviews/omegaman.htm

Thanks for the reviews! The verdict is in:
THE LEOPARD: an enthusiastic YES!
(I liked reading the opinion "a candidate for DVD of the Year," and besides, I love Italian history; I can't believe I'd never heard of this film.)
THE OMEGA MAN: NO... maybe a rental
(The reviews reminded me of how lame the movie was when I saw it long ago.)

What about the delightfully civilized debate between Heston and his critics on the Omega Man disc? I think I've got a screenshot of it stored somewhere... ah, here it is:
