LOTR: EE worth getting if...
I have the theatrical, i don't care much for extras (usually browse through and watch a few things), i don't care much about audio/video as long as it's decent.... I half want the EE for the extra minutes (it is one of my favourite movies [FOTR]), and i half want it because it'd look better on the shelf, it's obviously the better LOTR dvd.... i know it's stupid but i can't help think otherwise!
Keep in mind i'd buy it at EB games where i have store credit which will either go towards the dvd or half-life 2/doom 3...thanks.

I would get the EE for FOTR, not TTT. The extra scenes in FOTR really help add depth and development to the entire film, whereas TTT adds alot of nothing, and makes an already long movie, even longer. The DTS track on TTT is less than impressive in the LFE(bass) department. The LFE on ROTR on the other hand,... ROCKS!!!

EE's are, in my opinion better than the theatricals. Why? well because they add more depth in the films. sure they are a bit longer, but i mean what's 30 minutes after already watching a movie for 3 hours..so if you like the lord of the rings films, then the EE's are a must have!

If it's one of your favorite movies, the answer is obvious. I disagree with the 79th NaturalMystic. The EE of Two Towers adds plenty of valuable material, making a great film even better. I own the TE and EE for both and will never watch the TE again. In terms of film content, the EEs are IMO clearly superior, and in terms of DVD, the EEs are almost certainly the best DVDs produced so far in the history of the medium.
I really cannot see any possible reason not to own the EEs of these films unless you simply hate the movies or something.

The EEs are the ones to have for any LOTR fan, because the extra scenes greatly improve the movies. (TTT moreso than FOTR, IMO, due to the superb Boromir/Faramir scene added back to TTT.)
As for the TE, I simply rented those while waiting on the EEs to come out, which is what I also plan to also do for the upcoming ROTK TE release (the EE isn't due until November).

They're better films in their extended versions.
Period.
Everything else about those editions is icing--but what great icing it is, including superior A/V quality, fascinating extras which have repeat viewing value, and nice packaging.
Definitely worth it.

If you like the movie, this is a no-brainer.
Even though you're not much for extras, these kick "extra-ass"

Actually, I think the added material to TTT makes it a better movie, while the added material to FOTR, while fun to watch, doesn't add to the overall enjoyment of the film.
But the answer is yes - the EE editions are worth getting, even if you're just going to watch the film portions of them.

If you are a fan of LOTR and DVDs, the questions should never have been asked and we do not need to give an answer to such an easy question.
The question has been asked so many times in the past 2 years.

They have been asked yes, but under my circumstances? (Don't care for extras, no difference in audio/video quality since my tv setup sucks). I think not! Thanks for the replys by the way.

I'm not an extra enthusiast either, but I was thoroughly interested in the LOTR extras as I found them just as interesting as the movie itself. You can do a "play all" feature and sit back.

Here's my story about the TE and EE versions.
When FOTR-TE came out, I bought it. When FOTR-EE came out, I bought it. That Christmas I gave my FOTR-TE to my sister.
When TTT-TE came out, I bought it AND rebought the FOTR-TE. Why? 1) the cover-artwork, and 2) the different extras.
When the TTT-EE came out, I bought it.
And when the ROTK-TE comes out, I'll buy it too for the same reasons I rebought the FOTR-TE. And then I'll buy the ROTK-EE.
Now then, while the extras are similar in theme, they are indeed different and bring in a different look on the same material. Plus you get the music videos on the TE versions.

I think the FOTR scenes added a little more than the TTT scenes did, but I certainly wouldn't say that the EE of TTT added nothing. I can't wait to see what's added to Return of the King.

The EE is the complete movie. The TE is what had to be shown in the theaters due to time constraints. IMO, of course.

I just watched the EE of FOTR and thought it was great, better than the TE. I'll be buying TTT EE tomorrow.
Is there any place i can get the 2 book/dvd ends that came with the FOTR gift set? Without buying the giftset that is. I always thought they were nice but for an extra $40, not worth it.

No DVD collection is complete without the Extended Editions of all three Lord of the Rings films.
Lay off the crack. The EE editions of both FotR and TTT are superior to the original theater editions. No doubt in my mind that RotK will be the same.
