"Interview With the Assassin" DVD Reviews?

I only saw one on dvdfile, are there any other reviews out there? This would be a blind buy for me, so I want to know more about the DVD.

Kal, that was my review you read. If you're still interested in the disc, I'll loan you my copy so you can decide if it's a keeper. Honestly. Shoot me an email.

Thanks for the offer Josh, but I just got an Amazon GC so I'll be picking this up for sure. Thanks again for your kind offer.

Kal, really, save your gift certificate for something else. You can keep my copy if you like the movie. No sense in wasting a perfectly good gift certificate on something you can get for free, right?

Matt, from your review:
I am referring to that final scene of a film which, within a few seconds, packs such a dramatic (and thematic) wallop that it places all of the events that precede the scene in an entirely new context; a scene that smacks you upside the head because you never saw it coming, but upon viewing it your entire appreciation of the film has changed dramatically.
Surely you must understand that the epilogue to this movie makes absolutely no logical sense?

Spoiler:
The main character has 85 minutes of videotape that completely exonerates him. There is no way he could be convicted and sent to prison. Unless he lived in Arkansas, maybe.

Josh,
Spoiler:
the film might exonerate him, but that's beside the point. Subscribing to the argument that Ohlinger was telling the truth, the evidence that clears him is pointless. The powers-that-be wanted him silenced, wanted him incarcerated, and, taking this notion to its logical extreme, wanted him eliminated -- evidence be damned. The fact that he *was* convicted and murdered in prison (with no suspect ever found) further supports this theory.

I really enjoyed the film, with its chilling plotline and great performances. Then again, my girlfriend HATED it and considered the film insipid, farfetched tripe. Different strokes and all that...

Josh,

If Kal doesn't take you up on your offer to get IWTA, I'd be honored to receive it from you. I'd even be willing to reimburse you for S/H and your troubles. I've been trying to watch this movie for months now, hearing about it some time ago and becoming absolutely enthralled by the trailer. But alas, I was out of state while it was playing in Houston, TX...

It seems like such a creative independent movie. Thanks, Josh!

Matt,

Spoiler:
The problem with your theory is that it is entirely contingent on Ohlinger having told the truth. If this is so, that completely eliminates any element of ambiguity in the film, which was its most interesting aspect. Without the ambiguity, the film is greatly lessened.

Also, you are disregarding the fact that the main character or his friend certainly would have gone public with his tapes. As a matter of fact, he must have gone public or else we would not be watching the movie in the first place!

Carlos, sorry you got to me a little too late!

Edit: Taken.
