'HARDBALL' - Excellent DVD!!
Paramount have done a wonderful job with the No.1 feel-good hit 'HARDBALL' starring Keanu Reeves and Diane Lane. The picture is smooth, but sharp. It is colourful, filmlike and has next-to-no edge enhamcement. The sound while hardly hyper-active, is still very effective with some nice but subtle split surround activity. The soundtrack has some very good bass, and both the soundtrack and dialogue is very well recorded and crystal clear (all except G-Baby of course, who you are not meant to understand).
The supplements are first rate. The audio commentary is great. Director Brian Robbins and writer John Gatins are interesting and funny. They talk about the production, it's success, and also about working with Keanu Reeves and Diane Lane and the 'first-time
actor' kids. Apparently, Keanu fancied the pants off of Diane Lane!
Next up, are the trailers, TV spots (called 'interstituals' here), a 'Hardball' music video and an excellent 'Making Of Hardball' featurette which features behind-the-scenes footage, interviews with Robbins, the cast including Keanu Reeves and Diane Lane,
and the kids, and also the baseball co-ordinator. Running time is about 20mins but it
is informative and entertaining, and much much better than the normal 'Making Ofs...'
A good little entertaining movie, that was a highly profitable theatrical release for Paramount in the Fall of last year. Highly recommended, even if you don't like baseball
or Keanu Reeves, especially on such a well specified DVD. Well done Paramount.

Great disc! One of Paramounts best!!
This was a FAR BETTER movie than I expected. The kids were great and Keanu Reeves and Diane Lane had good chemistry. A great disc! Definately one of Paramounts best! Check out the reviews below:

Skip it!
Had some insight into the story and while I normally shut off my brain for any type of movie (it seems just about all the time these days), Hardball is way off on all levels.
Just my 2c.

I agree. Don't let the trailer fool you as to the type of flick this is. Very surprising.....

HARDBALL rocks!
"HARDBALL" is a GREAT disc. The film is really, really good (NOT "Bad News Bears" far more dark). It has humour, it has drama, it has cute kids, it has Diane Lane....
The DVD is top-notch. Video is 10/10. Audio is good as well. Plenty of supplements too. As Keanu would say 'Whoa'...
Definately, a worthwhile disc. Very surprised by everything about it really.

THE BEST surpise movie of the year!
I can't believe how good this movie was!
Definately, see it. Even if you're not a Keanu Reeves fan, a Diane Lane fan, or a fan of sports movies. This has something for everyone! Great!! 10/10. Excellent DVD as well!

I totally agree! The ads do not even hint at just how good this film really is. It is really quite a gem!
I had no idea it made over $40.2 million at the cinemas. That's pretty good for a film that cost only $20 million to make, and had zero publicity. I'm really pleased it found a sizable audience.

$40.2 million is probably one of Keanu's most successful films (not counting 'The Matrix' or 'Speed'). It would be interesting to see.
I agree that this movie is excellent, and shouldn't be considered a 'Bad News Bears' clone, which it isn't. I'm also pleased it's found a big audience - it deserves it.

I thought that the picture was so sharp but filmlike, I could almost touch everything. The picture has a warm Autumn hue to it as well to offset the cold subject matter. Great picture and the sound is excellent. 10/10.
