Calling Classicman, calling Classicman,...

Hey, let's take a break from the mayhem. I need your informed opinion on these 2 classic films. Both garnered Best Picture Oscars as I understand.

Gentlemen's Agreement (Elia Kazan, 1947)
How Green Was My Valley (John Ford, 1941)

P.S. Yes, I know this should go in the reviews forum but a) I'll get a quicker reply here, and b) I heard nobody posts there anymore since sfsdfd became the moderator.

...sorry... not CLASSICMAN... just li'l ol' me...

...for reviews of Gentleman's Agreement (movie and DVD) go here:

...ditto for How Green Was My Valley (vintage John Ford, by the way!):

...I suspect the second movie will 'hold up' better than the first one - which got high marks upon its original release, but is probably dated now - haven't seen it in - oh - decades...

Ahhh thanks Hendrik, I just thought that Classicman was the only one who could remember as far back as 1941.

...HAH!... I can remember all the way back to c.1939, which is when I saw my first movies: Disney's Snow White & The 7 Dwarves (Dwarfs?) and the Max Fleischer feature cartoon Gulliver's Travels... I also remember Gloria Jean! and Shirley Temple! - and why aren't they on DVD? sob...

(...shuffles off into the distance, weeping softly...)
