Totally agree on the criterion version. It rocks! Transfer is also better than the original release. DTS even! If you are a fan of the show, The Rock CC is the version to get. I really enjoyed it!

I was really glad that i never opened my rock regular version, I got the CC and just traded back the regular version, I like this movie alot. Worth the 25 bucks all the way!!!

It is a good movie. I was impressed when I watched it a few days ago.

Anyone know how much better the video is in the criterion compared to the first release. Or is the extras and DTS the only difference?

Some say the picture transfer is better than the first edition. I've never own The Rock first edition. Buy this DVD and you'll be entertain.

Criterion video transfers are notoriously crappy. I don't have my copy of this yet (soon), but I can't wait. For most Criterions the transfer may be crappy compared to if the studio released it themselves, but in this case we're talking about a crappy barebones DVD that had a bad transfer to begin with, so no matter what - this will be an improvement.

I just finished watching the criterion version and the video on my sony wega is as good as any I have seen. 5/5

It's one of the top 20 movies of all time! Not good--GREAT!

I liked the CC as well. I like the movie too, though nothing great. It is worth repeat viewings. The Alcatraz documentary was also an interesting watch.
