hi,
i have a Sony DAV S300 player bought recently in Hong Kong. the other day, i tried a region-1 disc titled the 6th day. it could not work on my player. i found out that this is because the disc has region-code enhancement (RCE).
i would appreciate very much if anyone can show me how to modify my player to be able to play these RCE DVDs.
thank you very much in advance.
cheers,
wilvin

More than RCE, the title is also region coded, so unless your HK player is modified, it won't play any Region 1 disc, RCE or not.
To work around RCE, you need a region-selectable player (not simply region-free). RCE specifically targets region-free players so they will not work. There are several mod chips available, but there is no guarantee that they will work or that they will give you region-selectable capability. Furthermore, if it is region-selectable, there's no guarantee that it will work with RCE, but your chances are pretty good. You could also just import a region 1 player.
Try searching the internet for "code free DVD" or "mod chips" and you should find several retailers.
