I live in England. Just purchased the Hollow Man Region 1 DVD via Amazon. It has RCE and will not play on my Sony 725D player which has been "chipped" and plays other region 1 DVDs with no problem.
Any suggestions how to overcome this?

I have a SONY player too and have been told many times there is no work around for it. In fact (correct me if I'm wrong someone), there doesn't seem to be a work around for any Sony that does not have "manual" code switching so you may have to live with it like I do.
A suggestion I've heard: try putting a regular R1 disc in your DVD, spin it up to the menu, then eject and insert your RCE disc (that way the player will already be set to R1 and you may fool it into working). This does not work with mine, but others (Toshiba, Panasonic) seem to have luck with it.
All the above said, I have heard of only a few DVDs that are RCE (Patriot, Hollow Man, a couple of the latest Southparks) and have not missed anything I wanted so far...
Good luck,
Andy

RCE
Hi Andy,
Thanks for that - I have already tried your suggestion as it's mentioned on Amazon's own site - but unfortunately it doesn't work.
Hopefully, someone else may know if there's a chip available to work around the problem.
