Does anyone know if the SAMPO DVD players convert PAL to NTSC the same way as the APEX line?
The Apex does not properly convert PAL DVDs, resulting in a slightly stretched (too tall) image in 4:3 widescreen mode (downconversion) or a slightly squished (too short) picture in the 16x9 mode (and played on my anamorphic Sony XBR).
Either way, the picture is ugly and distorted and if the Sampo does the same thing, I am not interested because tall skinny people and short fat people that should be normal people is very distracting.
800.com has the Sampo 620 for less than $190...

While Mindlogic.com has it for twice that! Why?
