I enjoy 16:9 much better! Suits my periphial vision and has a better "feel" to it.

That's why I bought a 16:9 television.

And "less" black bars while watching wide-screen movies.
And for 4x3 television I use TW1 on my Toshiba which does (in my opinion) a beautiful slight stretch to fill the screen.

That's a bit open-ended don't you think? Are you thinking about buying a TV and need input? Did you want opinions on the merit of each? I have a 16x9 Mitsubishi and love it. Some have said because of the limited WS programming available they'll buy the biggest 4:3 they can get and put up with the black bars. For me regular TV looks fine on my widescreen TV. DVD looks awesome!!

16:9 is the ideal display size for 16:9 material.
4:3 is the ideal display size for 4:3 material.

It Depends

It all depends on what you wanna use it for.

For most TV channels, I would prefer 4:3.
For DVD Movies, go for 16:9

If your TV is the last step in your home theater system, then I'd prefer 16:9. However, if you are planning to buy a projector, then go for 4:3 TV and get a 16:9 Capable projector.

I have a 4:3 TV that is used mostly for news. For DVD, I normally watch it on 16:9 Projector.

Regards,

Thanks for the posts. The decision has been made to go with the 16:9 format.
