I had the pleasure of listening to these speakers the other day. The sound is amazing as is the unique shape. Just curious if anyone on this board could provide some long term comments on the speakers such as

1. How well do they hold up?

2. Does it sound well with all types of movies and music?

3. Are there any drawbacks?

I'm thinking about just using them in the rear for starters, is anyone using them standalone without the passive sub?

Here is the site if you want to look at them:

If you are in Tokyo, you can audition them at Yamagiwa in Akihabara. They are on the 5th floor at the entrance to the linnaudio section.

Excellany speakers. Coupled with their powered sub they'll make a fantastic home theater. I really like the realism that they gave to voices in music. Although technically the speakers can't even hit the high notes (I believe the freq response is 100hz to 16khz). Which for most applications is fine, you rarely here those above 15khz anyway and with voices the highest is around 12khz (I think). This isn't even a concern though. From the time I put behind these speakers I was very impressed. Especially for the price. There are better speakers out there, but for the look and sound you're getting your money's worth. I'd rate these up with an NHT Super Zero setup, just above the Energy Take 5's. You listened to them though, and if you liked them that's all that matters.
