I dont have that remote so I can't help there, but I do own a Proton amp. It has been very reliable and the sound is excellent for the price.
Their TV's are also very high quality and I have thought of buying one, but they are on the pricey side.
I would say if it has the features you want and the price is right go for it. Proton is a good company even though it isn't well known.

Go to www.remotecentral.com. They have a nice review of it.
