want to spend around $1000 for everything: 3-4 microphoes, speakers, amp. needs to be suitable for around 100-200 people.

TIA

Carvin equipment would be perfect for you. It is excellent equipment and sounds great. Go here http://www.carvin.com/cgi-bin/get.exe?PAGE=cat&SearchStr=((CID= 'SYS1'+OR+Altcategory='SYS1')+AND+(CID2='SYS1')) I would suggest the 620-805. For $499 you get powered mixer with built in effects(reverb, etc.), 2 speaker cabinets, 1 mic, and some cables. Throw in a couple of stands for the speakers, $50 each. A couple of CM-68 mics at $90 each and you still have money left over for cables and stuff.

Check it out. Hope this helps.

Just to add, if you have any questions feel free to ask. I ran sound in a club for years.

Thanks. I'll pass on the message. If they have more questions, I'll be sure to post.

Also, any other suggestions are also much appreciated.

Electrovoice made their mark by making very good speakers. I think all of their amps and mixers are OEM and they put their name on it. Carvin speakers sound just as good and they make everything themselves(amps, mixers,etc..) and their customer service is very good. I had a huge all Carvin setup at the club I was running sound at and it sounded just awesome. I always had comments from bands that they liked playing there the most because the sound was so good.
