Okay so I bought the SONY 61hs10, but figured a week later that I would like be totally regreting the non-anamorphic viewing. So last night I cancelled the order and I think today I am going with on of the high end 65inchers from Mitsubishi. Let me tell you, other than the high end Pioneer sets out there, the Mitsus are pretty much untouchable. Now my question to you is, which model is going to be worth my money?
These are the three models I am looking at:
Mitsu 65807 (Platinum series), Mitsu 65857 (Platinum plus series) and the Mitsu 65907 (Diamond series).

Any suggestions on which set packs the most punch?

I'll be teaming up one these sets with the Mitsu $800 DVD (I don't know the model #, but it's their Proscan model) or the Toshiba 6200. Then for the Sat/Hd, I'll probably get their unit that runs for about $1000.

This should be a good set up right? Also, please let me know what you think about this. Thanks.

Good call on dumping the Sony. I think you'll be real happy with the 16x9 form factor.

You might want to reconsider getting the Mits HDTV decoder. Just a suggestion, but will it work with any other set? If you change sets in the future will you care if you have to buy another one? An RCA one might be a better and cheaper answer. I don't have one so I can't tell you for sure. You might just want to look into it.

I too was looking at the Mits RPTV's before settling on Pioneer. I wouldn't consider anything less than the Platinum Plus series but I don't know if the Diamond series is worth it.

I just bought the Mitsubishi 55" Diamond. The price difference was negligable and the difference was easy to spot, even in the store.

I was about to buy the same Sony model last October, but I started looking around more and found that I narrowed it down to the Elite and the Mitsubishi Diamond series. I was prepared to buy the Diamond, but my local store said they don't carry those, only the Platinum so I decided to get the Elite. It was a little more than I wanted to pay, but I am thrilled every time I watch it (even after 3 months)!
