I want to replace a cheap phillips dvd player as it has glitches on some newer movies, but I'm not sure what to get. I am trying to decide between the Panasonic DVD-RV80, Pioneer 333 and a Playstation 2. Does the playstation playback as well as a standard dvd (if I buy the remote)? I have a 32" TV and the kenwood 503 theater in a box.
Thanks for the help

The Playstation 2 is only worth getting if you are primarily buying it as a games player. For one thing it costs twice as much as most good entry level DVD players like the ones you mentioned, plus it does not do quite as good a job with DVD playback. Also there are not too many good games for it right now. If you want to primarily watch DVD's then I would advise on getting the Pioneer or Panasonic. If you want to play back CD-R's then get the Pioneer.
I have a PS2 as well as a regular DVD player and I primarily use my PS2 for games. The only time I use it for DVD's is if I am watching a DVD which has a DTS soundtrack as my reguler player does not have DTS capability.
