I'm looking for a better than average sound system without breaking my bank account. I would like to use it with my DVD player and maybe add in a CD changer later. I was wondering if anyone has any recomendations? I'm would like to get DTS so anyone with a system like that, I would love to hear some reviews. Thanx

If by sound system you are refering to a receiver and speakers there is a wide variety of both receivers and speakers out there leading to many different combinations. There are also what are called HTIB (home theater in a box) systems which are mainly for the budget and space consitious (sp?) but typically do not sound as good as seperate receiver and speaker combos. As far as receivers go two of the best brands WRT entry level would be Yamaha and Onkyo. Denon, Marantz and the Sony ES line are very good and in many respects better but also more expensive. I have the Yamaha RX-V595a which I got as an open box discontinued unit for $270 (MSRP=$499 when it was available). However my speakers are not that great (Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble IV) although I plan on upgrading them. Which receiver you buy depends on your budget.
As far as speakers go I am no expert. One example of good speakers is the Energy Take 5 series (you can typically pick up the full setup - 5 speakers and subwoofer - for about $800). There are many others at various prices.
Hopefully some one else can expand on what I have said and offer more info and examples of good receivers and speakers.
